Webinar: Cybersecurity for law firms and the recent ethics opinions!
From our Alliance partner: Enterprise Risk Management
Law firms today are faced with cybersecurity challenges
very similar to other industries.
Hackers and hack attacks are dominating the global scene and law firms
have reason to stand up and take notice as well. Hackers have been known to target uncharted,
lesser known victims and with the client information that law firms handle
today, they are prime targets.
The Florida Bar and other State Bars have issued advisory
ethics opinions regarding the use by attorneys of cloud computing, email,
copiers with hard-drives, etc. These
ethics opinions stress that attorneys must ensure that confidential client
information is protected from the risks that are posed by new
technologies. This training will
identify security risks that lawyers face and will provide an overview of
measures that are necessary to protect confidential client information, as
required by the Rules of Professional Conduct.
This training will teach lawyers basic concepts of
information security, including logical, physical, and administrative
information security measures. The
speaker will cover essential security control measures that need to be implemented
and enforced to maintain a sound security structure at law firms. Additionally,
the presentation will cover the risks and security recommendations that lawyers
need to consider for the use of new technologies, including mobile and wireless
technology and cloud computing. Also,
the speaker will address ways to prevent unauthorized access to confidential
information by persons using "social engineering" methods.
